Description
Learn how to draw and paint with oil pastels, and come home with a piece everyone will mistake for an oil painting!
Oil Pastels are a wonderful, vibrant medium especially suited to lovers of colour.
This workshop is aimed at beginners; no experience necessary. It could also benefit those who have tried Oil Pastels but are not sure whether their technique is correct. Our aim is to teach you how to get the most out of Oil Pastels.
During this 2 hour workshop you will learn about correct pressure, different blending techniques and sgraffito. I will also reveal my own secret methods for 'erasing' mistakes as well as adding extra layers, plus how to make oil pastels play nice with other media.
This is a practical, hands-on workshop; be prepared to get your hands dirty!
We will be creating a sun-set Oil Pastel 'painting' during this session which you can take home.
Materials:
Oil Pastels and Cartridge Paper (can be provided; I have been hording oil pastels for years so there're plenty to go around!)
I encourage students to get the materials if they can to enable practise at home.
I recommend Pentel Arts Oil Pastels. (Sennlier are considered 'the best' but are very expensive, plus my personal preference if for a harder pastel).
